   There are thousands homes for sale in Sacramento and Central Valley North. City of Elk Grove has 1720 listings! Elk Grove is the second-largest city in Sacramento County and the fasted growing city in the U.S. As the first established California cities in 1850, Elk Grove is located 10 miles from the state capital of Sacramento. 

   The town developed around agriculture and quickly started to become a residential suburb of Sacramento. Most new housing development in Elk Grove lie west between Highway 99 and Interstate 5, the major north-south highway for the U.S. West Coast, in two areas locally called “Laguna Creek” and Laguna West”. The city is divided into several major areas which are: Laguna West, Laguna Creek, Elk Grove proper, East Elk Grove, and big part of the Sheldon, Wilton and Franklin townships. 

   The area has experienced explosive growth with a current population of almost 60,000 residents. Housing available in the
Elk Grove area today ranges from the low $150,000 as for new, entry – level homes and can go to $600,000+ price range for executive homes. 

   The most important resources of Elk Grove is its educational environment. The City of Elk Grove is within Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD), one of the fastest growing school district in the county. The students regularly score above the state average as a whole. Local institutions of higher learning offer programs for most undergraduate and graduate degrees, and several cater directly to the business community. 

   Despite this healthy growth, the city has made a conscious effort to maintain the community’s character and lifestyle. The Community Harvest & Giant Pumpkin Festival, Elk Grove Western Festival, Strauss Festival, Dickens Fair became traditional events. Golf Courses, Health Clubs, 50 parks, totaling more than 140 acres of lush landscaping and recreational amenities and two main theater complexes are Century 16 and United artists brings a great deal of opportunity for relaxation. 

   The Elk Grove Senior Center provides classes, trips; game nights and help for senior citizens include lunches served during the week for a nominal cost. There are over 70 local restaurants and several shopping centers, which provide some of the more popular chain stores. There is also proposed plan to create a regional mall “The Elk Grove Promenade,”  which will be 1.2 million sq feet, and surrounding satellite retail of about 1.9 million sq feet.

   More than 50 churches in the greater Elk Grove area provide worship services for many faiths. Elk Grove has convenient access to two highways – Interstate 5 and Highway 99, providing easy access to highway transportation routes. Public transportation is provided by e-train, the City’s first nation 100% hybrid electric commuter bus fleet. The Sacramento International Airport is located 26 miles north of Elk Grove of I-5 and provides the major carrier airlines. Elk Grove continues to be a city that beautify blends that small town feel with all the amenities of an urban area.
